Adult Group Experiences

History happens everyday! And that’s a lot of history to tell. So set your own pace and enjoy learning about all things Atlanta history as you stroll through our exhibitions, gardens, and historic houses.

For groups of 10 or more, self-guided tours allow groups the opportunity to spend as little or as much time as they like on our 33-acre campus. Audio tours of Turning Point: The American Civil War are available at admissions.

Enjoy a sophisticated Southern dining experience, located on the grounds of the Atlanta History Center the Swan Coach House Restaurant is open Monday – Saturday from 11:00 AM – 2:30 PM. For more information, please call 404.261.0636.

Behind the Scenes: Swan House Tour

Fascinated by secret spaces and new places? Ever wondered what’s behind those closed doors? This specialized tour offers the unique opportunity to explore rooms not open on the regular house experience. Peek in basement rooms, explore attics, and see special collections spaces.

Behind the Scenes tours include durations of walking, standing, and climbing. Guests must be 13 years or older.  For more information, email

History Happens Bonus!

Don’t stop your love of history! With this special group tour combo package, once you’ve learned all about Atlanta’s history on our main Buckhead campus, be sure to head just a few miles down Peachtree Street to trace the footsteps of famed writer, playwright and philanthropist Margaret Mitchell. Your Margaret Mitchell House experience includes a guided tour of the apartment where she wrote her Pulitzer-Prize winning novel Gone With the Wind, as well as the exploration of multiple exhibitions about the author’s life, the novel, the film and the city of Atlanta.

Military Discounts

Year round we are honored to offer both active duty and retired military personnel free admission for up to two adults. Military ID required.

From Memorial Day to Labor Day, Atlanta History Center is a proud participant in Blue Star Museums, a collaboration between the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense and more than 1,800 museums across America. As a Blue Star Museum, the Atlanta History Center will honor all active duty with free admission for up to six adults. Military ID required.

Bank of America Free Admission Weekends

Atlanta History Center is a Bank of America’s Museums on Us participant. Bank of America/Merrill Lynch customers receive free admission during the first full weekend (Saturday and Sunday) of every month.*

Visitors must present a valid Bank of America ATM, debit or credit card, with photo ID.

Bank of America associates are also eligible for free admission by presenting their current Bank of America Corporate ID card, and photo ID.
